Welcome to The
Voice, a community health care blog for South Carolina physicians
and health care leaders, all who illustrate a passion for quality health care
in our state through their advocacy, innovation, or leadership.
As Chief Executive Officer of the South Carolina Medical Association, I am
privileged to meet physicians and health care leaders daily who exhibit
these traits-- advocacy, innovation, and leadership. It is these very traits
that advance both the business and science of medicine, and I am proud to
witness it!
Some recent health care leaders that come to mind most are Dr. Vincent
Degenhart, chairman to the Childhood Obesity Taskforce who has led the state in
our fight against obesity, Director Keck and Dr. Marion Burton who have been
monumental in Medicaid's recognition of obesity as a disease, Dr. John Ropp and
his passion for end-of-life care, Dr. Bruce Snyder and his zeal for promoting
physicians as leaders.... As you can see, the list goes on and on.
Over the coming months, I hope you'll become a regular reader of The
Voice. More importantly, I hope you'll contribute. If you are a
South Carolina physician or health care leader and have a idea or thought that
illustrates advocacy, leadership, or innovation in health care, we want to hear
from you so that we can share your voice.
